Volunteer Information 2023-24

2023-24 Jerabek Elementary Volunteers

Steps for Volunteering at Jerabek Elementary

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Jerabek Elementary.  We truly value all of our volunteers, who are an essential part of our school programs. As a SDUSD school Jerabek must abide by the district procedures regarding volunteers. Please review the district procedures.  We are trying to streamline the process this year by going electronic and we hope you find it easier as well.

How to become a Jerabek Volunteer?

Jerabek teachers can provide potential volunteers the Google Form link.  A google account (gmail) is required to upload the necessary documents. If you do not have one, you may log in as your student using their school ID and password. If you are new to Jerabek or did not receive the link, please contact Shana Toerien ([email protected]).

All volunteers will need to provide the following documentation: 1) Volunteer Application, and 2) Proof of a Negative TB Test or TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire from School Nurse. Proof of a TB result is valid for 4 years.

  1. After providing your name, email and students teachers, please open and complete the Volunteer Form (via link).
  2. Download, complete and then upload a copy of the completed volunteer form.
  3. If you did not submit a negative TB to Jerabek for the 2022/23 school year, you will then need to scan and upload a copy of your negative TB results. You may check with the school nurse to see if you qualify for an alternate TB questionnaire in lieu of a negative TB test, Wednesdays and Fridays, 2:30-3:00pm.
  4. Provide date of your negative TB test or questionnaire.

After documents have been uploaded, we will verify all of the information and let you know when you can begin volunteering.

Fingerprinting for Category D clearance is now required for anyone wanting to participate in their student's field trips. Please reach out to your student's teacher or Shana Toerien for the information sheet regarding CAT D clearance.  You must complete the Classroom Volunteer form when you are requesting Category D clearance.

Become a Volunteer

In order to provide students with a safe environment and allow for a variety of volunteer opportunities, volunteers are classified into categories. Depending upon the category, certain processes must be completed by district staff prior to volunteering.  All volunteers are processed annually by the school site volunteer coordinator.

Thank you!
